At 16,580 feet above sea level, Shinku La connects the Zankar region to Keylong. It acts as the Gateway to Zanskar region when approached from the Manali - Leh Highway. ShinkuLa Pass is the highest pass the riders have to cross during Himalayan Adventure Zanskar.
On the road from Padum to Rangdum, Drang Drung Glacier stands tall near Pensi La mountain pass. It is the source of the Stod River which flows into the Zanskar river and eventually feeds into the Indus.
Located at an altitude of 3,657 metres, on the top of the mountain, the Rangdum monastery structure towers and safeguards the eponymous valley. Home to 40 monks, the monastery is an interesting place to pay a visit.
Known for the Lamayuru Gompa, it is hard to say whether the monastery is named after the place or is it the other way round. Situated in the Kargil region, Lamayuru is also known as the Moonland due to the resemblance of its peculiar land surface to that of the moon.
Probably the most popular destination amongst Indian motorcyclists, Leh is today the must-visit place for tourists alike. Lapped in the snow-covered fringes of the Himalayas and known for its colourful gompas, it is also the starting point of some of the best treks in India.

Day 01
Briefing and Scrutiny
Check in by 1100 hours in Leh. Followed by a quick gear check and ride briefing.
Day 02
Acclimatization
On this day we will acclimatise to the altitude in Leh.
Day 03
Leh to Drass
The ride is on smooth tarmac all the way to Drass. This road takes us further down in elevation from Leh to our destination for the day.
Day 04
Drass to Rangdum
While the day starts on good tarmac roads from Drass, we will then turn into an offbeat path to reach our destination for the day. This is the day when the adventure truly starts.
Day 05
Rangdum to Padum
This day’s ride will be a test for the riders. On this day, the team crosses another pass in Penzi La (14435 ft) which offers magnificent views of the Drang Drung Glacier.
Day 06
Padum to Shinku La to Jispa
On this day the team will traverse some treacherous terrain to reach Shinku La and return via most of the same route to Zangla. It is known for its monastery which is believed to be built in the 11th century.
Day 07
Jispa to Shinku La to Zangla
On this day the team will traverse some treacherous terrain to reach Shinku La and cross over to Jispa.
Day 08
Zangla to Photoksar
Crossing the Lingshed village, the ride goes alongside the Zanskar river for most part of the day, passing through hamlets and small villages of the Zanskar Valley.
Day 09
Photoksar to Leh
This will be the last day of riding, a little off road but mostly on tarmac. The notable point for the day is the Zanskar and Indus Confluence point which the riders will be able to spot, on the way to Leh.

On 21st August, we kicked off the Himalayan Adventure Zanskar. As we rode deep into the heart of the Zanskar Valley, we wanted to capture the journey from the perspective of the rider. To truly put you on the saddle of the motorcycle. With GoPro HERO9 Black cameras mounted, our riders rode out from Leh, the route taking them off the beaten path, as they explored uncharted trails across this mesmerising landscape. In just 8 days, we travelled through 8 mountain passes – Fatu La, Namika La, Manman La, Umba La, Penzi La, Barfi La, Singe La and Sirsir La.
In October 2019, a group of 11 motorcyclists ventured out on a once in a lifetime experience to ride through the forbidden kingdom of Tibet Autonomous Region and reach the world’s highest monastery Rongbuk at the fabled North Face Base Camp of Mount Everest – a route George Mallory made famous with his attempt to scale the mountain back in 1924. Starting from Kathmandu, they crossed the Nepalese border to ride through the high desolate highlands of Tibet Autonomous Region on their way to Rongbuk. Together they battled the biting chill, the dropping oxygen and their own personal limits, forming friendships for life on the way to the top of the world.
